Reelection Plans Press Announcement

***Nancy Harter to Seek Second Term***

Santa Barbara School Board President Nancy Harter announced today that she will be seeking reelection this fall.

“Over the last four years, my main goals have matched what I have heard from parents, teachers and administrators; I am proud to say that we have been successful at increasing student achievement, college admissions and encouraging greater parental involvement,” said Harter. ”I have worked hard to ensure the efficient use of public funds and broaden learning opportunities for all students. I’m looking forward to continuing this important work over the next four years”.

Nancy Harter was elected to the school board in the year 2000 after co-chairing a successful secondary school bond campaign and has been Board President since 2002. She sits on the school board’s Bond Oversight, Secondary Advisory and Diversity Committees. She is also a board member for the Santa Barbara Public Education Foundation, the Channel Islands YMCA and is a former Board President of Child Abuse Listening and Mediation (CALM). As a parent of two Santa Barbara School District graduates and one current student in the district, she has been an active Parent Teacher Association and school site council member. Harter holds a Masters and a Law Degree, and has been married to her husband Larry for thirty years.
